12th Annual Conference
The University of Wisconsin-Madison will host the 12th Annual Environmental Politics & Governance Conference on the beautiful shores of Lake Mendota in the summer of 2026. This conference draws scholars from around the world to share cutting-edge research, engage in discussions, and form lasting professional connections.
Located in America’s upper Midwest, Madison is Wisconsin’s Capital—a small city built on an isthmus between five lakes that blends vibrant urban energy with stunning natural beauty.
Conference Format
The EPG Network & its annual conferences.
EPG Conferences are small, intense, and dynamic. The event showcases outstanding research, offers scholars valuable feedback to improve work in progress, and provides an opportunity to build and strengthen professional networks.
The conference will host approximately 40-50 participants, with all attendees staying at the same hotel. The conference will include a mix of panel and poster sessions; there will be no keynotes or roundtable discussions, which keeps the focus entirely on participant presentations. All participants take part in every session.
The conference is also intensely social, offering ample time for casual conversation. Participants take all meals together, and evenings feature off-site dinners and social time.

Befitting its host institution, the 12th EPG will emphasize the Wisconsin Idea: the principle that a university’s research ought to benefit the world beyond campus, and that academic expertise can and should help address societal problems.
